Bowel care practice assessment annual refresher for managers 2024

This course is for Cerebral Palsy Alliance employees

Who is this course and practice assessment for? 

This assessment is for all CPA managers in A&R, Lifestyles and Packforce.  It is conducted annually as a compulsory Practice Assessment.  

What does the refresher involve? 

The session is run by one of our Clinical Nurse Specialists in a simulated environment who will:

• Refresh key points covered in the mealtime practice alert
• Demonstrate the essential knowledge and practical skills required to complete the practice assessment
• Observe and assess you completing the practice assessment to demonstrate proficiency.

You will be assessed across a range of activities to safely support clients with Bowel Care, according to the Bowel Care Practice Assessment.  This includes the assessor observing you undertaking various tasks, to assess your knowledge and skills.   
Following this assessment, managers will then complete the Practice Assessment with your DSPs (only for staff who are supporting a client with a Complex Bowel Care Management Plan).

Does the course have any prerequisites or specific requirements? 

Managers need to have completed their Bowel Care orientation training, as per their Learning Journey.

Attendance type:  In person (face to face)
Duration: Approx 2 hours.  Please arrive 15mins prior and wait for the facilitator.
