Supra Pubic Catheter (Catheter Care)

This course is for Cerebral Palsy Alliance employees 

Who is this course for? 

This training is designed for Disability Support Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals who support clients with a urinary catheter.    

What content does the course cover?  

In this training session you will learn how to support clients with urinary catheters and strategies to prevent infections.
This includes:

  • Understanding the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system
  • Indications for catheter insertion
  • Types of catheters and associated equipment
  • Indwelling (IDC) and supra pubic catheter (SPC) care
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Practical demonstration of catheter position.

Does the course have prerequisites or specific requirements? 

The following must be completed before attending:

  • Disability Support Workshop One and pre-requisite training.
