Who is this course for?
This training is designed for Disability Support Practitioners and Allied Health Professionals who support clients with a urinary catheter.
What content does the course cover?
In this training session you will learn how to support clients with urinary catheters and strategies to prevent infections.
This includes:
- Understanding the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system
- Indications for catheter insertion
- Types of catheters and associated equipment
- Indwelling (IDC) and supra pubic catheter (SPC) care
- Infection prevention and control
- Practical demonstration of catheter position.
Does the course have prerequisites or specific requirements?
The following must be completed before attending:
- Disability Support Workshop One and pre-requisite training.
