This course is designed for disability support practitioners and allied health professionals who support clients with a urinary catheter. The course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to assist with management of urinary catheters as well as infection prevention strategies.
What content does this course cover?
The learning activities covered in this course include:
- the anatomy and physiology of the urinary system
- the indications for catheter insertion
- the types of catheters and associated equipment
- indwelling (IDC) and supra pubic catheter (SPC) care
- infection prevention and control considerations
- a practical demonstration of catheter position

To enrol in this course you must have successfully completed the following training:
- Infection prevention and control - online
- Practical skills workshop for disability support practitioners and managers
