Who is this course for?
This is “as required” training for CPA employees who provide serial casting of the lower limb (including therapists and Allied Health Assistants).
If this course is relevant to your role, but not mandatory, please discuss with and get approval from your manager.
What content does the course cover?
In this training you will learn how to:
· Apply clinical reasoning to develop a safe and effective serial casting plan
· Effectively apply serial casts to the ankle and knee
· Select casting materials according to individual client needs
· Apply a range of casting materials appropriately
· Hold a consistent, chosen casting position while a cast is applied
· Tune ankle casts to ensure optimal function
· Remove casts safely
· Manage risk during serial casting
Does the course have prerequisites or specific requirements?
The following must be completed before attending;
· Splinting and casting – online learning modules and case studies
Note:
· AHAs and CSCs are not required to complete the online learning component
· All attendees will have casts applied to their ankles and knees over the two days of training. Please wear appropriate clothing.
