Diabetes training and first practice assessment

Who is this course and practice assessment for?

This course is for all CPA managers, Registered Nurses and DSPs in A&R, Lifestyles and Packforce who support clients with BGL monitoring and/or subcutaneous diabetic medication administration.  It is also a mandatory induction training for all Exercise Physiologists. 

What content does the course cover? 

In this training session you will learn how to safely assist clients with BGL monitoring and/or subcutaneous diabetic medication administration. You will then be assessed by one of our Clinical Nurse Specialists in a simulated environment to safely support clients with BGL monitoring and/or subcutaneous diabetic medication administration.  This includes the assessor observing you undertaking activities according to the practice assessment.

Does the course have any prerequisites or specific requirements? 

The following must be completed before attending (with the exception of EPs who are not required to complete these):

  • Assist with medication - online
  • Infection prevention and control Disability Support - online
  • Disability support workshop 1 (Disability support practice) – face to face
  • Medication Practice Assessment

Attendance type:  In person (face to face)
Duration: Approx 3 hours.  Please arrive 15mins prior and wait for the facilitator.
