Mealtime assistance AND CPR Refresher (for transferred staff)

This course is ONLY for CPA staff working in Accommodation and Respite Northern Sydney (transferred staff).

It offers the two half-day courses of Mealtime Assistance and CPR Refresher on the same day.

Mealtime assistance is a compulsory orientation activity for all staff who assist clients during mealtimes. The course provides participants with information on enjoyable mealtimes, safe eating and drinking procedures and improved nutrition. It outlines strategies on how to facilitate safe and enjoyable mealtimes for clients by following their individual mealtime plans. The training covers strategies that promote safe swallow, appropriate seating and positioning, assistance techniques. It also includes practical tasks on food and drink preparation. 

CPR Refresher is a compulsory this certification for all disability health practitioners at CPA.  It is a nationally recognised training course delivered in partnership with Healthcorp (RTO ID 91222) who award the certificate.

Prerequisite:  A current First Aid Certificate is an essential prerequisite for this course.

Assessment for CPR consists of:

  • written quiz questions
  • assessment questions
  • class participation
  • practical application of CPR in a simulated environment (includes responding to simulated scenarios)
