This course is for Cerebral Palsy Alliance employees 

Who is this course for? 

This course is being discontinued and is ONLY for staff who commenced prior to June 2023.  After this date, new staff will complete the Disability Support Workshop Two (2 day course).

This is mandatory training for the Disability Support workforce, Allied Health professionals, Early Childhood Early Intervention employees and Youth employees.

What content does the course cover?  

In this training session you will learn positive approaches to client support and active support strategies which can reduce the occurrence of behaviours of concern.
You will have the opportunity to reflect on current practices and consider how to develop your approach to deliver a quality service, make a difference, and deliver great outcomes for the clients you support. 
This includes:

  • Demonstrating the use of positive support strategies that improve outcomes for people who exhibit behaviours of concern
  • Using person centred principles to identify the best approach to support a person to improve quality of life
  • Recognising Active Support strategies and reflect on own work practices
  • Using creative solutions to support people to engage in activities and reduce a behaviour of concern.
