Who is this course and practice assessment for?
This assessment is for all CPA managers, Registered Nurses and DSPs in A&R, Lifestyles and Packforce who support clients with BGL monitoring and/or subcutaneous diabetic medication administration and who have been unable to complete their Refresher Practice Assessment on site. Please check the date of your site session with your manager. This refresher is conducted annually as a compulsory Practice Assessment.
What does the refresher involve?
The session is run by one of our Clinical Nurse Specialists in a simulated environment who will:
- Refresh key points covered in the diabetes practice alert
- Demonstrate the essential knowledge and practical skills required to complete the practice assessment
- Observe and assess you completing the practice assessment to demonstrate proficiency.
You will be assessed across a range of activities to safely support clients with BGL monitoring and/or subcutaneous diabetic medication administration, according to the practice assessment. This includes the assessor observing you undertaking various tasks, to assess your knowledge and skills.
Does the course have any prerequisites or specific requirements?
Staff need to have completed their Diabetes Training and First Practice Assessment, as per their Learning Journey.

Attendance type: In person (face to face)
Duration: Approx 2 hours. Please arrive 15mins prior and wait for the facilitator.
