Health and infection control

Why choose this course?

This course is recommended for workers who are new to a disability support or direct care role. The course will equip workers with the knowledge and skills to minimise infection control risks in the workplace.

At Cerebral Palsy Alliance it is a compulsory activity for all employees in a disability support role.

What content does the program cover?

The learning content and activity covers the following:
•    infection control principles (personal and WHS-work place environment)
•    food safety principles
•    healthy dietary habits
•    personal care
•    basic wound management (including pressure area care)

Does the program have any prerequisites?

Cerebral Palsy Alliance staff must read the Infection Control Policy (S08:04:16) prior to attending the session.

How will course work be assessed?

The assessment for this learning activity is contained within group activities and discussion during the session. For Cerebral Palsy Alliance staff undertaking the Certificate III or Certificate IV in Disability, a formal assessment is completed which contributes to the unit of competency ‘Follow WHS Safety Procedures for Direct Care work’ (CHCWHS312A).  

What is the cost?

Cost: $190 incl. GST for individuals
*Cerebral Palsy Alliance employees are exempt from this fee.
